Anhand von spannenden Illusionen zum Betrachten, Anfassen und Ausprobieren nehmen wir Sie mit auf eine Reise durch die Geheimnisse unserer Wahrnehmung. Flankiert werden alle Ausstellungsobjekte von Erklärungen und Hinweisen zur theoretischen Bedeutung. PC-Stationen mit Videos und Animationen nebst ausführlicher philosophischer Erläuterungen ergänzen die Exponate.

Für seine Forschung zu den neuronalen Grundlagen der räumlichen Navigation beim Menschen erhält Prof. Dr. Nikolai Axmacher von der Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) einen Consolidator Grant des European Research Council, kurz ERC. Die Förderung beträgt 2 Millionen Euro für fünf Jahre. Axmacher interessiert sich unter anderem für Rasterzellen, für die bei Nagetieren eine zentrale Rolle bei der Navigation nachgewiesen wurde, aber deren Funktionsweise beim Menschen weitgehend ungeklärt ist.
